Palani shore at around sunset |
There is a nice beach that is being talked about somewhere in the province of Masbate, and it is called 'Palani Beach'. To warn you, it is not yet a commercialized destination, no hotels, and all those fancy facilities we often associate with resorts but that's the beauty of it.

It has about 1-2 kilometers of stretch of beach front with really fine white sand, just like in Boracay. Swimming is perfect due to the right depth of the water, and it's virtually clean, almost no rocks or stones, unless you venture in the deeper area. You can actually like swim and bathe there all day. Night swimming is not yet advisable.

Long and beautiful stretch of fine white sand at Palani Beach |
Palani Beach is located in a place called Palani in the town of Balud. It is about forty-five minutes drive from Masbate City. You will find private wooden cottages in the beach area. Most of the lots there are privately owned so, if would be good if you know someone though some owners rent these cottages for a very minimal fee.
So if you get to be in Masbate City, take a sidetrip to Palani. Just bring your own food and drinks because it would be hard to find them in the beach location itself, though you can buy these stuff in Masbate City or in the Poblacion of Balud Town. Here are some photos of the Palani beach area during sunset. And they are just lovely!
